Work With the Sky: Week of August 31 – September 6

As we leave eclipse season behind, the week ahead is a mixed bag that may cause some frustration.

Last week’s Pisces lunar eclipse square Uranus had a disruptive quality to it. Something may have changed in the way you are seeing a plan, an idea, a business direction, or even what you thought you wanted.

We enter this week still sorting through that, and Saturn in Aries is the focal point of the days ahead.

On August 31, Jupiter in Leo forms a trine to Saturn in Aries.

This is a very constructive aspect.

Jupiter in Leo wants bold, visible growth. It wants to take up more space, lead with confidence, and put more heart into what you are building.

Saturn asks whether the idea can actually hold up in the real world and over the long term.

What will it take? How much time will it require? What needs to be built first in order for success to last? Is there enough structure underneath the opportunity to actually sustain it?

Jupiter can be wonderfully optimistic, but it can also get carried away. Saturn brings some realism back into the picture. Because this is a trine, there is an easy cooperation and flow between the two energies.

That makes August 31 a good day for thinking bigger without completely losing your grip on what is practical. There is room for expansion here, but it is the kind of expansion that benefits from a willingness to build strategically instead of rushing headfirst into the exciting part and then fizzling out.

At the same time Saturn is providing assistance, it is also challenging us this week.

On September 1, Mars in Cancer squares Saturn in Aries.

Neither planet is especially comfortable in the sign it is moving through right now. Mars in Cancer is motivated by what feels important to protect and care for. But it is less comfortable with the straightforward cut and run style of action that Mars usually prefers.

Saturn in Aries wants us to start building towards our individual desires, but to look before we leap. It is trying to balance discipline with speed and has little patience for Cancer’s emotional sensitivity.

Put the two in a square and things can feel unnecessarily tedious this week.

You want to get something done and the timing does not cooperate. A project runs into a practical limitation, or you are ready to move forward and the road suddenly narrows.

With Mars in Cancer, repeatedly trying to force your way through that resistance can turn impatience into an emotionally charged reaction that just leaves you feeling worse.

This is where the week gets a little confusing because August 31 and September 1 seem to be telling us two different things.

One says there is room to grow, and we should not let that opportunity pass us by. The other says pace yourself.

The good news is that this friction is temporary. Mars will move on from its square to Saturn by later next week. The Jupiter-Saturn trine remains part of the longer story, not just in September but into 2027.

Fortunately, Mercury in Virgo sextiles Mars in Cancer on September 1 as well, and that gives us another way to work with the day.

If forcing something forward is not working, organize instead. Look at the details, rework the plan, crunch the numbers, and figure out what the next sensible move actually is.

For entrepreneurs, I think the real message of this particular week is not to confuse resistance with utter failure.

The Jupiter-Saturn trine gives us something very useful, and we should be careful not to bypass it. Jupiter asks us to stretch beyond our previous limitations, and Saturn gives us the work ethic to withstand any discomfort that comes with doing that.

August 31 kicks off a series of three beneficial Jupiter-Saturn trines between now and July 2027, so this is not a one day opportunity. It is the beginning of a longer cooperative agreement between growth and durability.

Go boldly but sensibly, build what will last, and enjoy the journey.

If something refuses to move immediately this week, do not assume that you are somehow flawed.
